Our active projects
Variety has a long history of supporting various local projects in Jersey, all with one goal in mind – to provide equal opportunities and experiences to children.
Since our inauguration in 1968, Variety – the Children’s Charity of Jersey, has raised millions of pounds. This is put towards a variety of life-changing projects, which includes supplying specialist equipment for disabled children, developing outdoor spaces to be fully accessible, donating equipment for sensory rooms, building and renovating school playgrounds, and more.
Working with Schools to Support Jersey’s Children
Variety is committed to creating inclusive and engaging outdoor spaces for children in Jersey. We work closely with schools to develop playgrounds that are safe, stimulating, and fully accessible for all children – including those with disabilities.
By funding specialised play equipment and improving outdoor facilities, we ensure that every child has the opportunity to play, explore, and socialise in a welcoming environment. Our most recent major project was the refurbishment of the toilet block at Happy Hatchlings Nursery in St Clement.
Empowering Children with the Right Equipment
Variety is committed to ensuring that children with disabilities have access to the specialist equipment they need to live more comfortably and independently. We provide essential mobility aids such as wheelchairs, walkers, supportive buggies, and electronic beds, helping to improve the daily lives of children and their families.
By working closely with health professionals, social workers, and occupational therapists, we identify the specific needs of each child and supply equipment that enhances their mobility, comfort, and overall wellbeing.
